Southern Seed Association members include local, national, and international seed & biotech related companies who do business in one or more of the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Virginia.
SSA works on seed issues, along with its constituents, at the national level with the American Seed Trade Association and at the state level with state seed associations who are also members of SSA.
Outside of seed-specific issues, SSA works with the farming industry, crop protection industry and others to promote sound agricultural policy and fair trade for those involved in crop production agriculture.

The SSA 20-member Board of Directors is made up of one Directory from each of the sizteen member states, plus two representatives of the Southern Crop Production Association. Executive Officers are elected from the list of Directors Annually.
